Media Room 

There are many stories to be found at IYRS, and the school has hosted journalists from around the world who have come to Newport to report on the school and its students and capture footage and photographs.

Journalists have followed different threads to find story angles: from business stories on how IYRS coordinates with the State of Rhode Island and the marine industry to develop training programs; to articles about IYRS-trained craftsmen and the historic fleet they launch each year; to features on significant restorations such as the 1885 133-foot Coronet and the 1831 Aquidneck Mill Building; to reports on the school's many events, such as Launch  Day in June and the Annual Summer Gala in July.

This Media Room houses key resources. Our press releases chronicle significant school news. Backgrounders provide valuable overviews on the school, Coronet, and the mill building. If you are looking to time a story with an IYRS event, our calendar of upcoming events will give you dates and details.
